Shudder to Think Announce 'Who Sent You?' EP, Their First New Project in Nearly 30 Years

Shudder to Think will release a new EP titled Who Sent You? on September 11 via Dischord Records, marking their first new project in nearly three decades (Consequence of Sound).

The three-song EP — Dischord being the Washington, D.C. independent label founded by Ian MacKaye, long associated with the American post-hardcore scene — carries the tracklist: "Who Sent You?", "Something To Do", and "Release The Ball" (Pitchfork). The band has already shared the title track with a lyric video and opened the EP for pre-save on streaming platforms (Stereogum).

Vocalist Craig Wedren told Pitchfork that the song "Who Sent You?" draws on his teenage years in Cleveland during the 1980s, just before he relocated to Washington, D.C. (Pitchfork).

Shudder to Think, described as a post-hardcore band, released a 7-inch single in 2025 — their first new material in nearly 30 years prior to this EP (Pitchfork). Across their career, the band released three albums on Dischord and two on Epic, a major label — a trajectory that took them from the American independent punk underground into major-label territory during the 1990s (Wikipedia).

In September, the band will play live shows in Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia (Pitchfork).

For a band whose recorded output had been dormant for the better part of three decades, two releases in two years — a 7-inch in 2025 and now a full EP — suggests something more than a one-off return.
