Apple TV lands All the Little Houses drama in development

Apple TV has landed the rights to develop All the Little Houses as a drama series. The news was first reported as an exclusive by Deadline on 9 October 2026. To develop, in television terms, means early work on a show before any order to film a full series. Deadline
The planned series is based on the novel of the same name by May Cobb. The story is set in Longview, Texas. The book provides the starting point and the title carries straight across to television.
Cobb is co-creating the television version with Naomi Sheldon. Sheldon will write the series. Co-creating means the two are shaping the adaptation together, with Sheldon responsible for turning story into scripts.
Fifth Season is attached as the studio, meaning the company that makes the show and manages production. Apple TV is the commissioning platform, meaning the buyer that would order the series and put it in its schedule. Kristen Campo's Campout Productions will serve as an executive producer. Linden Entertainment will also serve as an executive producer, a senior credit that brings creative oversight and business responsibility.
No cameras yet, and no set has been built. No cast was named in the Deadline report. No director or release timing was included either.
For viewers new to the system, that pause is normal. Development is the first stretch, when scripts are drafted and plans for casting, crew and budgets are drawn up. A platform can then order a pilot, meaning a single trial episode, or hand out a straight-to-series order, meaning no pilot is shot first. It can also step away and leave the project unmade.
For fans, this means the wait starts now. The rights are secured and the core creative team is named. The next concrete signs to look for are script progress, casting news and any formal order to produce episodes.
What makes this stand out is how close the book stays. Cobb wrote the novel and is remaining with the adaptation as co-creator. Sheldon takes the writing lead, so the original voice stays in the room while the story is rebuilt for the screen.
