Apple TV renews French chef drama Carême for season two

Apple TV has ordered a second season of Carême, its French-language drama about Antonin Carême, the cook described as the world's first celebrity chef.

The renewal was confirmed on 29 September 2026. A renewal, in industry terms, means the platform has commissioned another run of episodes after the first season. Filming was slated to begin next week in Paris at the time of the announcement, according to Deadline.

The series is inspired by the life of Carême, who rose to prominence during the era of Napoleon Bonaparte. It is based on Cooking for Kings: The Life of the First Celebrity Chef, the biography by Ian Kelly. Kelly created the screen version with Davide Serino. Martin Bourboulon directed the series.

Benjamin Voisin stars as Antonin Carême. That central performance carries the story of a young cook finding his place among powerful patrons. Jérémie Rénier plays Talleyrand, Bonaparte's chief diplomat. Alice Da Luz plays Agathe Guichardet, a chef. The performances are in French, which makes it part of Apple TV's non-English-language slate alongside its English-language commissions.

The first season launched on Apple TV in April 2025. It made its global debut on 30 April 2025, according to Apple TV. The launch was organised around two episodes on premiere day, followed by one episode weekly every Wednesday. That weekly pattern, rather than releasing all episodes at once, spaces viewing over several weeks.

Carême has since been nominated for the drama prize at the International Emmy Awards, according to Deadline. The International Emmys honour television produced outside the United States.

For viewers, this means the story continues. A second season gives the writers' room and crew of the first run another production in Paris, and gives audiences more episodes after the April 2025 debut. Details of plot and release date have not been announced.
