Matthew "MatPat" Patrick is developing a feature film based on Amanda the Adventurer for Blumhouse, Deadline reported on 10 October 2026. Jason Blum announced the project. Patrick and Blum shared the news together on stage at BlumFest, according to Yahoo.

Developing means the film is in its early creative phase. Writers and producers shape the story and script at this point. Filming comes later.

The source is Amanda the Adventurer, a 2023 indie puzzle game from DreadXP. Indie means it was made by a smaller team outside the major publishers. A puzzle game builds its story around clues the player must solve.

Patrick is known online as MatPat. He is the founder and former host of the Theory channels on YouTube. Those shows talk through fan theories about games and films, explaining hidden lore in plain language.

He already has a working link with Blumhouse. He appeared as waiter Ness in Five Nights at Freddy's in 2023. He then voiced Toy Bonnie in the sequel.

That earlier series gives context for the new pairing. Blumhouse's Five Nights at Freddy's films have passed US$520 million at the worldwide box office, Deadline reported on 10 October 2026. Worldwide means takings from cinemas in all markets added together. It is a strong result for a game adaptation.

Epic Pictures chief executive Patrick Ewald will serve as a producer on Amanda the Adventurer. A producer helps organise the film, from creative choices to money and scheduling. Ewald's credit was included in the Deadline report.

For fans, this means a familiar guide moves behind the camera. Patrick built his audience by explaining games. Now he will help build one for a theatre release.
