Magic: The Gathering announces Marvel: Darkhold Destiny for 9 April 2027
Magic: The Gathering will meet Marvel again in Darkhold Destiny.
Wizards of the Coast announced Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny at New York Comic Con, with a release date announced as April 9, 2027 TechRaptor. The publisher also set out the announcement on its Magic news page Wizards of the Coast.
The date is set. That April 2027 date gives players a fixed point, more than a year ahead, for when the set is due to arrive. It is the release date announced by the publisher, not a provisional window. For a general reader, that is the key detail: the name, and when it is planned to go on sale.
The new release is a Universes Beyond set. That is the label Wizards of the Coast uses for Magic products built around worlds from outside Magic itself. In plain terms, it means cards featuring characters and ideas from another franchise, designed to be played as part of the Magic card game. The rules stay the same. The faces on the cards do not.
Darkhold Destiny forms part of the company's partnership with Marvel. That partnership is the working arrangement under which Marvel material appears in Magic. It covers how the two sides collaborate on bringing Marvel stories and figures to the tabletop. The announcement identifies Darkhold Destiny as the next step in that arrangement.
New York Comic Con is one of the large fan conventions organised each year in New York. Publishers, studios and game makers often use it to present coming projects on stage and to press. In this case, it was the venue named for the reveal. The online news page then serves as the lasting public record.
The Magic news page is Wizards of the Coast's own site for set news. It is where the publisher posts release dates, product information and first details direct to players. Anyone looking for confirmation can find it there, without going through rumour or second-hand posts. That direct line matters on a beat where dates move and lists leak.
For fans, this means a clear wait. The announcement came in October 2026, with launch scheduled for April 2027. Further details on cards, formats and how the set will be sold will come through official channels closer to release. Until then, the name, the Marvel link and the date are what is confirmed.
