Arsenal Fight Back to Beat Leeds After Justin Opener

Arsenal came from a goal down to beat Leeds United at home on Saturday 10 October 2026.
The reigning Premier League champions had to earn it. They trailed early in the second half before turning the game around in front of their own supporters. BBC Sport
The fixture was part of the 2026/27 Premier League season, England's top flight, and had been scheduled for that Saturday date. Premier League Arsenal started the day as the team everyone was trying to beat. Leeds arrived ready to spoil the party.
Leeds struck first. James Justin scored the opener in the 55th minute. It came from a low cross from the left by Gabriel Gudmundsson, a ball flashed across the face of goal, that goalkeeper David Raya could not cut out.
Arsenal had threatened in the first half without finding a way through. Kai Havertz directed a header straight at Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford from eight yards out in the 21st minute. It was a clean chance, met firmly, but placed too close to the keeper. That was as good as it got before the break.
Leeds almost made Arsenal pay for that miss. Three minutes after taking the lead, Noah Okafor failed to get the final touch to a Jayden Bogle cross from the right. Another inch and Leeds would have been 2-0 up. The away end knew it.
Instead Arsenal levelled. Noni Madueke floated a deep cross to the far side of the goal. Ben White met it at the back post and Riccardo Calafiori bundled the ball home from close range. It was Calafiori's second Premier League goal of the season. The Guardian
Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, reacted straight away. He made a triple substitution immediately after the equaliser, sending on three fresh players at once. One of them was Bruno Guimaraes, the Brazil midfielder signed from Newcastle United in August on a four-year contract with provision for a further year. Reuters
There was history in the teamsheets too. Arsenal started five Englishmen, the first time the club had done so since 1999. Leeds boss Daniel Farke kept faith with the same starting side he had picked for the previous three matches.
What makes this stand out is the swing. One moment Leeds were ahead and seconds from a second. The next Arsenal were level and pushing on with fresh legs. For fans, those are the afternoons that stick, when strangers around you suddenly share the same noise.
