Cappu Films takes Her Last Laugh to buyers at Busan

Hong Kong-based Cappu Films has picked up international sales rights to Australian dramedy Her Last Laugh and is bringing the finished film to buyers this week.
The deal covers everywhere except Australia and New Zealand, and the launch is happening at the Asian Contents & Film Market, the buying and selling marketplace attached to the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, according to Variety.
In simple terms, Cappu Films will now act as the go-between. It shops the film to distributors and streamers territory by territory.
The film is written, directed and produced by Joy Hopwood. It stars Peter Thurnwald and Ana Thu Nguyen as the central pair, with Tiana Hogben, Kya Stewart, Lyanna Kea, Tony Goh and John Waters in support.
A dramedy mixes drama and comedy. Here the story follows Chinese Australian sisters Willow and Annika Lim. After their mother dies, they inherit her casting agency and have to work out what to do with it — and with each other.
The film was made by Hopwood's Joy House Productions. It is her sixth feature, and it was shot in Sydney after production began there in January, according to IF Magazine.
Home comes first. Her Last Laugh is scheduled for a theatrical release in Australia in November.
For audiences in Australia, this means the film will arrive in cinemas shortly after its market debut. Special screenings with question-and-answer sessions with Hopwood and cast members are also planned across the states.
