Fox to Open Extracted Production Hub in Malaysia

Fox Entertainment Global will open its first international production hub for Extracted in Malaysia.
The base sits in the wilderness around Lake Kenyir. It will act as a production hub, meaning one centralised base where broadcasters from different countries can film their own versions of the same show. It is the division's first hub of this kind outside its home market, according to Deadline.
The Malaysia site is turnkey, meaning it is ready to shoot on arrival. It has a permanent headquarters and standing sets. It can host multiple international versions one after another. That spares each new buyer the cost and delay of building from scratch.
The location qualifies for local tax incentives, which cut the cost of money spent in the country, and provides access to Malaysian crews. Local teams can stay on from one version to the next. Visiting productions fly in with cast and key staff.
Fox planned to present the hub to buyers at MIPCOM in Cannes, the annual market where channels, streamers and producers buy and sell formats and finished shows. Prentiss Fraser, president of Fox Entertainment Global, is leading the offer. The pitch is brief. The jungle is ready.
Extracted is the reason for the build. The United States original is executive-produced by Sylvester Stallone and films in British Columbia. It has drawn 45 million viewers across its first two seasons, as reported by Deadline. It has been greenlit for a third season, meaning a new run has been formally ordered.
Season two wrapped in April with victory for RJ Reynolds, a project manager from Texas. That closed the latest American run. The next step is export.
Fox has used the hub method before. It operates a production hub for cooking series Next Level Chef in Ireland, which serves several territories from one site. Malaysia would repeat that pattern for Extracted.
What makes this stand out is practicality. A permanent camp keeps sets standing, crews employed and know-how in one place. For viewers in new markets, this means a familiar show could soon appear with local contestants and local hosts, filmed on the same lake. No new build is needed each time.
