Rain Spencer Joins Maude Apatow, Mike Faist in The Maid of Orleans

Rain Spencer has joined Maude Apatow and Mike Faist in the cast of The Maid of Orleans, Deadline reported as an exclusive on 12 October.
The dramatic film is written and directed by Sarah Elizabeth Mintz, Deadline reported. Spencer's casting reunites her with Mintz after Good Girl Jane. It is their third collaboration together.
The story centres on an ambitious young woman who travels to Paris to assist a tortured visionary on his French production of Joan of Arc, according to Deadline. That puts the film inside a play within a film. Joan of Arc, the 15th-century French figure, has long been a subject for stage and screen.
Apatow and Faist will star in the film, CinemaExpress reported on 6 October. Amira Casar and Stefan Crepon have also been cast in key roles, Deadline reported. No character details have been disclosed.
Filming is underway in Paris, Deadline reported. Mintz is producing alongside Shuli Harel and Jeff David. Astute Films is also producing and fully financing the picture, meaning the company is covering the production cost.
What makes this stand out is the shorthand between Spencer and Mintz. Three projects in, they arrive with a shared working history. Now that history moves to a Paris set, with a theatre production at the heart of the story.
