Apple has announced HomeView, a new device for entertainment and home management. The announcement is detailed in a press release titled "Meet Apple HomeView, a new way to enjoy entertainment and manage the home" Apple Newsroom. Product specifications were published on Oct. 13, 2026 Apple.

HomeView is built around a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone, which adjusts display color to suit room lighting. Brightness is specified from 500 nits, a measure of screen brightness, down to 0.3 nits. Apple says 0.3 nits is its lowest-ever brightness, intended for bedside use. The display mounts to a domed aluminum base with a stainless steel hinge for angle adjustment. Four colors are offered.

For input and output, HomeView includes a 12MP Center Stage camera for video calls, which keeps callers in frame, and four beamforming microphones for Siri requests and FaceTime calls, which focus on voice pickup. Sound comes from speakers in the base and display that deliver Spatial Audio, sound placed around the listener, including two custom full-range drivers in the display. Select features respond to proximity and show more information the closer you get.

Apple also lists a wall-mounted option. It is available in Space Gray and Silver, with wired and plug-in wall mount options.

On software, HomeView includes Siri AI powered by Apple Intelligence. It is available in English to start. Siri works with a paired iPhone or iPad to find relevant content, and conversations with Siri on HomeView sync to the Siri app on other Apple devices. HomeView supports Handoff for a song, podcast, call, video, or recipe started on iPhone. It also supports compatible third-party audio and video apps from a user's iPhone.

The broader context here is about where a display is allowed to live. In my view, the 0.3-nit floor is about nighttime use and bedroom placement. Proximity keeps information light at distance and fuller on approach. Offloading discovery to iPhone or iPad keeps accounts where they already work, and Handoff for those five media types lets HomeView continue work started elsewhere. With wired and plug-in wall options alongside the base, power is treated as a placement choice. That care with placement and continuity is what helps a new home device settle into daily use.
