Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan will release a remix of “Expectations” featuring Roan on Oct. 15.

The singers announced the joint track on Oct. 13. The song and an accompanying visual will arrive together on that day, Billboard reported.

“Expectations” is taken from Rodrigo’s third studio album, “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.” That makes it her third full-length collection of new studio recordings. The album topped the Billboard 200, the US albums chart that ranks the most-consumed titles each week across streaming, sales and track equivalents.

The original “Expectations” debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Hot 100 is the US singles chart, which blends paid and free streams, digital and physical sales, and radio airplay into one weekly ranking. A debut is the first week a song appears on that chart, so No. 20 was its entry point as a solo recording ahead of the Roan remix.

A remix with a featured artist usually keeps the core songwriting while adding a new vocal and revised production. That is the format confirmed here, with Roan billed as the featured guest on Rodrigo’s song. The visual arriving alongside it is the filmed piece released with the track, rather than a later follow-up.

The Oct. 13 confirmation followed a short tease on Oct. 12. Rodrigo shared audio of Roan’s voice saying, “Ooh Olivia does remixes now,” Billboard reported. The title, date and visual plan were then set out a day later.

The remix cover art was shot by Phoenix Johnson. Physical editions are also part of the rollout. Rodrigo’s official website lists an “expectations - ‘LA behavior’ translucent blue 7" vinyl” alongside a “‘sticky sweet’ hot pink vinyl” edition, according to her official website.

A 7-inch vinyl is a small-format record, usually with one song per side. Colour descriptions such as translucent blue and hot pink refer to the disc variant, a common way of offering multiple collector editions of the same release. Such editions are sold as playable discs as well as keepsakes.

For fans, this means a short wait. Two days separate announcement from arrival. The music and the visual land at once.
