Sony's Coming-of-Age Comedy 'Narcs' Adds Three to Cast

Three more actors are on the roll call for Sony Pictures' coming-of-age comedy Narcs.
Callan Farris, Lexi Minetree and Josh Macqueen have joined the cast, with Mason Thames and Ella Bright leading the ensemble, according to Deadline. The story follows young characters growing into adulthood, the classic coming-of-age set-up.
Sony has set the film for cinemas on 20 August 2027. A theatrical release means it will open on big screens first, rather than going straight to streaming.
The film marks the directorial debut of John Phillips. That is his first time in the director's chair after a run as a comedy writer.
Phillips wrote No Hard Feelings, the Jennifer Lawrence comedy, as well as Good Boys and Dirty Grandpa, Deadline reported. Those credits place him firmly in big, broad screen comedy.
Narcs began as a script by Jordan and Justin Shipley. The brothers created Wrecked, the TBS comedy about plane-crash survivors.
Phillips and Gene Stupnitsky later rewrote the screenplay. Stupnitsky is now producing the film through his own production company, Big Name Entertainment.
Robert Lamonaca is executive producing through Big Name Entertainment alongside Phillips and Joseph Micucci, Deadline reported. An executive producer acts as a senior overseer on a film, often handling financing or key creative decisions.
The three new arrivals bring a mix of streaming, television and film experience. Minetree played the title role in Elle, Prime Video's prequel series to Legally Blonde. The part put her at the centre of a well-known comedy brand.
Macqueen is an Australian actor. His credits include the series Motorheads and Black Snow.
Farris started young and has worked steadily. His film credits include Kings and Grimcutty. On television, he appeared in Disney Channel's Gabby Duran & The Unsittables and voiced a role in Disney Jr.'s animated The Rocketeer.
Sony has not released plot details. For now, the calendar tells the story. Cast in place, director attached, cinemas booked for August 2027.
