Zavvi has ceased trading after entering administration, leaving outstanding orders and pre-orders unfulfilled.

Chris Skey and Kerry Bailey of BDO LLP were appointed as Joint Administrators of ZavviGroup Ltd, which trades as Zavvi, on 12 October 2026, according to the company's website. The affairs, business and property of the company are now being managed by those administrators. Administration is an insolvency process in which independent managers take control of a company while its future is resolved.

The UK retailer will not fulfil any outstanding orders or pre-orders while that process continues, Eurogamer reported on 14 October 2026. It cannot accept returns of any kind. Customers should not place any new orders through the website.

Customers who paid for goods they have not received were advised to contact their bank, card issuer or payment provider to check whether they can recover the payment. Depending on how they paid, they may be able to make a claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, request a chargeback, or use another buyer-protection process.

A dedicated email address, Zavvigroupltd@bdo.co.uk, has been set up for administration inquiries. Customers who email that address will receive an automated reply with a frequently asked questions document and information on submitting a claim in the administration.

Zavvi published a statement about the administration on its official website. It operated as a music, games and DVD retail chain, and latterly as an online seller of films, games and pop-culture merchandise.

This is the second time Zavvi has entered administration. The retailer was formed in 2007 when Virgin Megastores split from Virgin as an independent company. It first entered administration in December 2008, following problems at Woolworths, with Companies House records showing that process ran until December 2009. The Hut Group bought the business out of administration in 2009.

That history spans 19 years of operation before this month's shutdown.
