Netflix will release Guarding Stars on 18 Nov, starring Leighton Meester as bodyguard Hannah Brooks and Jared Padalecki as Hollywood action star Jack Stapleton, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The streamer has published the official trailer as ‘Leighton Meester & Jared Padalecki | Official Trailer | Netflix’ on YouTube.

Hannah is hired to protect Jack from a stalker. The job follows him to Montana, where he is spending the holidays with his family. Jack does not want his relatives to realise he needs protection.

The cover story is simple. Jack suggests the pair pretend to be in a relationship, so his family will not worry about why Hannah is there, according to the same report. What starts as a security plan becomes a holiday pretence in front of everyone.

The film is based on Katherine Center’s 2022 bestseller The Bodyguard. It is directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, with a script credited to Erin Cardillo, Richard Keith, Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo.

The wider cast includes Andie MacDowell, Noah LaLonde, Walker Hayes, Toby Sandeman, Rachael Ancheril, Shaun Johnston, Phil Brooks and Ava Max. Netflix also lists the title on its Only on Netflix page via the Netflix Media Center.

For fans, this means a holiday story built on two favourite romance tools: a fake relationship and a secret kept from family. The bodyguard assignment gives that set-up its reason to exist. Viewers can watch the trailer now before the November launch.
