Tank sets male-artist record with 12th Adult R&B No. 1

Tank now holds the most No. 1s of any male artist on Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay chart.
His single 'YES' rises to No. 1 on the chart dated 17 October 2026, giving him 12 leaders at the format. Billboard confirmed the result on 14 October.
The Adult R&B Airplay chart ranks the week's most popular songs by adult R&B radio airplay. 'YES' moves up from No. 2 after finishing as the most-played song on reporting adult R&B stations in the United States for the tracking week of 2-8 October, according to Luminate, the company that tracks plays for Billboard's radio charts. It also recorded the largest increase in plays of any song at the format that week, which brings Billboard's Greatest Gainer honour.
The move breaks a tie with Charlie Wilson. Wilson has 11 No. 1s on the chart, which has run for 33 years. Alicia Keys leads all acts overall with 14 No. 1s, with Tank now second outright on 12.
'YES' swaps places with October London's 'Silent Treatment'. That song falls to No. 2 after one week on top, as Tank's track takes over in its coronation week.
'YES' is released and promoted through R&B Money/BMG. It reuses — or interpolates, in industry terms — part of Floetry's 'Say Yes', building a new recording around a recognisable section of the earlier song. The original 'Say Yes' spent seven weeks at No. 1 on Adult R&B Airplay in 2003. Floetry members Marsha Ambrosius and Natalie Stewart are credited as songwriters on Tank's 'YES'.
The new No. 1 continues a busy chart run for the singer. Earlier this year, his single 'Control' had put him level with Wilson for the most No. 1s among male artists, according to Rated R&B. 'YES' has also been reported at No. 1 on the separate Mediabase Adult R&B airplay list, according to YouKnowIGotSoul.
What makes this stand out for listeners is the time span. Twenty-three years separate Floetry's seven-week run with 'Say Yes' and Tank's new leader with 'YES'. The two songs now sit together in the history of the same radio chart.
