Prime Video Adds 11 to Cast of Challenger Limited Series

Prime Video has added 11 actors in recurring roles to The Challenger, its limited series about the events around NASA's 1986 Challenger disaster.
The casting was detailed by Deadline on 14 October 2026.
The Challenger is a limited series, meaning it tells a complete story in one planned season. It is inspired by Meredith E. Bagby's 2023 book The New Guys and traces events before the flight, the investigation that followed and the journey of Sally Ride. The shuttle broke apart 73 seconds after lift-off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on 28 January 1986. All seven people on board were killed.
Kristen Stewart stars as Sally Ride, the first American woman in space. Will Arnett stars as George Abbey.
The new arrivals are all in recurring roles, meaning they appear across multiple episodes without top billing. Jamie Lee Dunn joins as Christa McAuliffe, with Michael Milligan as Steven McAuliffe. David Shae joins as Dick Scobee, with Allie McCulloch as June Scobee. Daisuke Tsuji joins as Ellison Onizuka, with Ellen Tamaki as Lorna Onizuka.
The rest of the group fills out crew families, NASA staff and the inquiry. Devyn Tyler joins as Cheryl McNair and Dennis Flanagan as Jim Bagian. Ned Vaughn joins as Neil Armstrong and Chelle Ramos as Sylvia Salinas. Lio Tipton joins as Molly.
The series was created by Maggie Cohn, who serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner, the writer who leads day-to-day creative decisions. James Hawes directs and executive produces. Eric Lange, Kevin Carroll and William Fichtner were previously reported as cast additions in September, as noted by Deadline. The series hails from Big Swing Productions, Amblin Television and Nevermind Pictures and will stream exclusively on Prime Video.
