Al Pacino to Receive SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award

Al Pacino will receive SAG-AFTRA's highest honour.
The Oscar-winning actor has been named the 62nd recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award, The Hollywood Reporter reported. The announcement was made on 15 October 2026. That is the union's top honour.
Pacino will be celebrated at the 33rd Actor Awards on Sunday, 28 February 2027, according to the same report. The ceremony will be held at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall. It puts him at the centre of the actors' own awards night.
The Life Achievement Award is given annually to an actor who fosters the finest ideals of the acting profession. SAG-AFTRA is the actors union. Sean Astin is its president.
Pacino arrives with a long list of career honours. He is an Oscar-winning actor, as noted by Reuters when he was honoured at the start of the Rome film festival in 2008. He was earlier named the 35th recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award, CBS News reported in 2007.
That AFI honour placed him alongside past recipients including Sean Connery, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. The SAG-AFTRA award now adds the acting community's own lifetime recognition. No other details about the tribute have been announced.
For fans watching at home, this means a rare showcase moment. The Actor Awards celebrate performances across film and television, and the lifetime slot usually brings film clips and tributes from peers. Pacino's turn will close that circle in February.
