Zara Larsson turns fairy and mermaid in 'Blue Moon' video
Zara Larsson has released the official video for “Blue Moon”, in which she appears as a fairy and then as a mermaid. The clip was published on Oct 14 on the ZaraLarssonMusicVEVO YouTube channel. YouTube
The video was directed by Charlotte Rutherford, Rolling Stone reported on Oct 15. Rutherford keeps the story in motion. Larsson is rarely standing still.
She dances on a dirt road, inside a bus stop and on a wet, deserted street. Animated hearts, butterflies and fairy dust drift around her as she moves between scenes. The costume and setting changes carry the fairy-to-mermaid shift.
“Blue Moon” is the fourth single from Larsson’s fifth album, Midnight Sun. It follows “Pretty Ugly”, “Crush” and the title track “Midnight Sun”. A single, in industry terms, is a song selected to promote an album to radio, playlists and charts.

Larsson had already played “Blue Moon” live with Kehlani during an organised “Midnight Sun: Girls Trip” preview, Billboard reported in May. She later told Billboard she wanted “Blue Moon” to have its moment. Billboard
