Harry and Meghan return to Nottingham nine years after first joint visit

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex kissed 90-year-old well-wisher Irene Hardman on the cheek during a walkabout in Nottingham on 15 October 2026.
She was with Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. The outing was their first joint public appearance since returning to the UK in late August, according to Hello! Magazine.
Harry and Meghan are no longer working members of the royal family, meaning they do not carry out official duties for the monarch. They stepped back from that role in 2020. A letter issued by the Lord Chamberlain, the senior officer who runs the royal household, at the King's direction described their position in the UK as akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.
The couple attended three engagements in the city. They visited the Community Recording Studio in St Ann's, the Himmah Hub and Epic Partners. Meghan said "It's great to be back" on arrival at the recording studio.
The crowd cheered. Meghan was handed several bouquets of flowers during the visit, according to The Independent.
Hardman waited with a photograph from Harry and Meghan's first joint visit to Nottingham in 2017. That visit came just days after their engagement was announced. Meghan stopped to speak to her and recreated the earlier photo, according to Yahoo.
Meghan described the reunion as a "full circle" moment. She noted it came nine years after her first walkabout in the city.
What makes this stand out is the continuity. The same city. The same well-wisher. Nine years apart. For fans in Nottingham, it was a brief, warm exchange in the middle of a busy day of community visits.
