SEGA has pulled Total War: Shogun 2 — Complete Edition from sale, two days after its release on October 13, 2026.

The removal from Steam, the PC storefront where the package was sold, was confirmed on October 15, 2026. It lasted two days.

In a message published at 1:05 PM on October 15, 2026, SEGA said the Complete Edition "has fallen short of both your expectations and our own standards" SEGA. The publisher did not detail a fix or a new sale date in that message.

The package was priced at US$39.99 on Steam Steam. Its store listing described an updated and improved Total War: SHOGUN 2, bundled with the original Total War: SHOGUN 2 and all of its DLC — add-on packs that extend the base game. It requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.

The delisting on October 15, 2026 followed complaints about the quality of the remaster IGN. It also followed accusations related to generative AI use, according to a report citing the reaction around the release Rock Paper Shotgun. That accusation remains an accusation, not a confirmed account of how the edition was made.

SEGA restored the original Total War: Shogun 2 when it pulled the Complete Edition from stores. That step matches earlier guidance in Total War's official FAQ, published on September 15, 2026, which stated the Complete Edition was not replacing the original on Steam and that the original "will still exist and remain playable."

In Japan, SEGA had listed Total War: Shogun 2 - Complete Edition at a retail price of 5,990 yen, in a release notice published on September 16, 2026.

For players, this means a short pause. New buyers cannot pick up the Complete Edition while it is off sale, while owners of the long-running original can keep playing it as before.
