Nineteen people were injured on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, when a minibus collided with a train at the Eurotunnel site near Calais, on the French side of the Channel Tunnel.

The 19 injured comprised the bus driver and 18 passengers, according to French reports. Early accounts said 19 people were involved in total, including the driver The Guardian. French media described the event as a collision between a bus and a train at the entrance to the tunnel HuffPost France.

Five of those hurt were severely injured, but no deaths were reported. The local prefect, the French state's representative in the area, said none of the injured people's lives were considered to be in danger.

The minibus was carrying lorry drivers, also known as Heavy Goods Vehicle drivers, who were heading to board a LeShuttle shuttle train through the tunnel. LeShuttle operates the shuttle service that transports vehicles and their drivers through the tunnel, separate from passenger trains.

Eurostar, which runs passenger trains to and from London through the tunnel, said the incident does not involve its trains. It said the incident occurred several kilometres away from the Channel Tunnel itself and is not expected to affect its service, with all Eurostar trains due to run as expected.
