A Dallas art fair has checked in to London's former US Embassy for its first London edition.

The London Invitational is the inaugural London edition of the Dallas Invitational, a fair founded in Dallas in 2023. It has taken 12 rooms on the third floor of the Chancery Rosewood hotel in Mayfair in London, and it runs until 18 October, according to The Art Newspaper.

An art fair is a temporary market where dealers hire space for a few days to show and sell work. Here the space is hotel rooms rather than the white-walled booths seen at larger fairs. Each dealer shows inside a room, and visitors walk from door to door.

The building is part of the story. The Chancery Rosewood is housed inside the former US Embassy building on Grosvenor Square. The hotel is newly opened, and its official Instagram account describes it as the home of the inaugural London Invitational.

The dates place it in the middle of Frieze Week, the autumn week centred on the Frieze London fair when London hosts a cluster of art sales and openings. The London Invitational launched at the hotel during that week.

Entry to the London show is tied to Texas. Every exhibitor in London has previously exhibited at the Dallas Invitational. There is no separate open application for London.

The look and pricing still point back across the Atlantic. Most works on show are priced in dollars rather than pounds. Only two dealers in the line-up are not from the United States: London-based Charles Asprey and Vardaxoglou.

The fair was founded by James Cope, a British-born dealer based in Dallas. Jessica Nowitzki is a partner in the fair and a member of its advisory council, the small group that helps guide how the fair is run.

The London move has been a year in the making. In October 2025, The Art Newspaper reported that a London edition of the Dallas Invitational was set to open at the former US Embassy in 2026. That plan has now opened on the hotel's third floor.

What makes this stand out for a first-time visitor is the scale. Twelve rooms is a short walk, not a day out with a map. For anyone curious but put off by big exhibition halls, it is an easy way in.
