Leaked footage reveals cancelled Assassin's Creed set in ancient China

Footage circulating online claims to show a cancelled Assassin's Creed game set in ancient China.
The clips were first detailed by MP1st in a report published on 15 October, with further reporting by Video Games Chronicle published on 16 October. They carry the working title Assassin's Creed Destiny. Nothing here is confirmed by a publisher. It is a leak, and it stays labelled as one.
Destiny was intended as a full instalment for consoles and PC. That sets it apart from Assassin's Creed Jade, the mobile game set in the same region. This was not a phone spin-off. It was the main series.
Development was to be led by TiMi Studio Group, according to the MP1st report. That is the Tencent subsidiary that also worked on Jade. Ubisoft has not announced Destiny, and has not commented on its reported cancellation.
The setting is specific. The game was reportedly placed during the Qin Dynasty in 206 BCE, a period of collapsing rule and open war. The leaked clips follow a female assassin pushing into a sacred palace. Inside is a mysterious artefact. Outside are the troops of Xiang Yu, the warlord laying siege to the palace.
Familiar series mechanics appear even at this early stage. The prototype footage includes stealth kills and the leap of faith, the series' high dive from a tall perch. One clip shows a stranger idea in rough form. The player wields what looks like an umbrella as a spinning weapon, with placeholder visuals standing in for finished art.
The reporting points to a business reason for the cancellation. Tencent pivoted away from Western franchises in 2024, citing lower profit margins than domestic Chinese releases. Destiny was likely cut in that shift.
Jade, at least, is still alive. Ubisoft has said the mobile game remains in development. Franchise boss Jean Guesdon has said it will feature co-op gameplay, where players team up online to play together.
What makes this stand out is how much of the idea is visible. A new period. A new lead. A new weapon. All in rough prototype footage that never reached release.
