Kenny Ortega's Lego Friends musical arrives on Oct. 16 across Lego's YouTube channel, Peacock and Netflix.

Lego Friends: Heartlake the Musical runs 50 minutes, according to Variety. Lego conceived it as its first musical feature built around the Lego Friends line. The LEGO Group calls it its first-ever Lego Friends-inspired live-action special, according to the LEGO Group.

The story follows Daisy, played by Jada Langley. Daisy is magically transported into Heartlake City, where she makes friends and helps save a landmark. Gino Ochello co-leads the cast alongside Langley, according to Variety.

The cast is all-British. Filming took place in London. Ortega, known for High School Musical, served as executive producer — the senior creative overseer — shaping story and choreography.

Paul Becker directed the special as Ortega's longtime collaborator pick. Becker also choreographed it, according to the LEGO Group. The screenplay is by Kirk R. Thatcher and Jeremy Adams. Production company Final Pixel produced the special.

The shoot was fast. Filming plus reshoots totalled under 30 days, about 25 to 26 days. Hannah Draper and Michael McKenna of Final Pixel approached Ortega about the project.

Lego first announced Ortega's involvement in July 2025, with a release planned for 2026, according to the LEGO Group. The trailer followed in October 2026.

For families, this means a short, single sitting. No cinema ticket and no series commitment. Just a 50-minute song-and-dance special free on YouTube, or inside two subscription services many homes already hold.
