Alex Scott steps away from Disney+ Women's Champions League coverage

Alex Scott has stepped away from Disney+’s Women’s Champions League coverage after two rounds of matches. The former England defender was the lead presenter on the competition, Europe’s top club tournament for women’s teams. BBC Sport confirmed the departure on 16 October.
The Guardian first reported on 15 October that Scott had quit the role. Her exit followed criticism of Disney+’s production, according to The Independent. Disney+ is in the second season of a five-year deal to show the tournament.
This season Disney+ introduced a watchalong show, a live programme where hosts react to the games as they happen. Scott was due to alternate presenting duties with Shebahn Aherne. The opening night hit a snag, with an unscheduled advert break cutting into Arsenal’s game against Danish side HB Koge.
Scott told BBC Sport she was “grateful” for the opportunities at Disney+ and hoped to “continue working together” in the future. Short and polite. No detail yet on who takes the chair full-time.
Scott previously hosted Football Focus and remains busy elsewhere. She launched a YouTube show this season called One More Word WSL, presented on Sunday nights alongside former England players Anita Asante and Fara Williams. The WSL, the Women’s Super League, is England’s top women’s division.
For fans, this means a familiar face leaves a big stage early. The BBC announced in the summer that its Women’s Super League highlights show would not return for the 2026-27 season, which makes independent projects like Scott’s Sunday-night show an even easier place to catch up.
