Kevin Bacon's horror film Summoner is now in production at Amazon MGM Studios, with Daniel Ings and Stephanie Beatriz joining the cast. The production start and new casting were reported by Deadline. In production means the film has moved into shooting. Ings and Beatriz join an ensemble led by Bacon.

Bacon plays Jefferson Haddock, who is called to an isolated witness protection property to deal with a terrifying demon, according to Deadline. Witness protection is the system that moves people at risk to secret addresses for their safety. The story places Haddock inside one of those addresses. The job is direct. Deal with what is waiting there.

The film is written and directed by Jeremy Slater, which means he is responsible for both the script and the shoot. Giorgia Whigham is also in the cast. The roles played by Ings, Beatriz and Whigham have not been disclosed. No further character details have been released.

Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti and Russell Ackerman are producers on the film. Dan Kagan, Melissa Russell, Carl Hampe and John Schoenfelder are executive producers, Deadline reported. In plain terms, producers run the day-to-day build of a film, from crew to schedule, while executive producers usually provide high-level backing or finance.

Amazon MGM Studios plans to release Summoner in theatres. That means cinemas rather than a streaming-only debut. A date has not yet been disclosed.

For fans, this means the pieces are now in place and shooting is under way. One lead. One remote location. One problem that is not human.
