Livingston, D'Angelo and Miller Join Gibson in Don't Open the Door

Ron Livingston, Beverly D'Angelo and Omar Benson Miller have joined Tyrese Gibson in Don't Open the Door, a horror thriller written and directed by Deon Taylor, according to Deadline. The announcement was published on 16 October 2026. It puts four names on the call sheet.
Gibson came first. He was linked to the project in September 2025 as the star of what was described as a reteaming with Taylor, as reported by Deadline. A reteaming means the pair have worked together before and are doing so again. Plot details were under wraps then. They remain under wraps now.
The latest update fills out the group around him. Livingston, D'Angelo and Miller will star alongside Gibson. No character details have been released. No further casting has been announced.
Taylor is working as writer-director. That means he wrote the script and will lead the direction on set. It gives him control of story and tone from page to screen.
The producing team is organised across three banners. Shannon McIntosh is producing through her McIntosh Films banner. She is joined by Cameron 'Cam' Heyward via his Iron 97 Productions label, and by Hidden Empire Film Group, the company run by Taylor and Roxanne Avent, according to Deadline. In plain terms, each banner represents a production company sharing the work of hiring crew, managing money and guiding the film to completion. Producers handle practical decisions that let a director focus on creative choices.
Behind the camera, Maxime Alexandre will serve as cinematographer. He leads the camera and lighting departments and shapes how each scene looks. The look he creates will later be finalised in colour and finish. His appointment was confirmed in the same announcement.
Principal photography, the main shoot with the full cast, is set to begin in Mississippi. The state will provide the locations for the story. Shoots on location use real streets, houses and landscapes as sets. No start date or schedule has been made public.
The film will deal with real-world trauma. That points to a horror story rooted in lived fears rather than distant fantasy. Many horror films use fear to explore grief, loss or survival. How Taylor plans to handle that material has not been disclosed.
For fans, this means the shape of the project is now clearer. The lead is set. The supporting cast is in place. The producers, cinematographer and location are confirmed. What remains is the story itself, which the makers are holding back. Plot details have stayed under wraps since September 2025.
