Seth Rogen says Curry Barker’s next film is even better than Obsession.

Rogen has already seen Anything But Ghosts and praised it writing about Barker for Time magazine’s Time 100 Next package, The Hollywood Reporter reported on 16 October 2026. That is a big call. He also said Barker is just as good an actor as he is a director.

Anything But Ghosts is a comedy-horror film directed by Barker, Polygon reported on 15 October 2026. It stars Barker and Cooper Tomlinson as two fake paranormal investigators. They are hired by a couple with a haunted house, then realise the haunting is real.

Bryce Dallas Howard and Aaron Paul play the couple at the centre of the story. The script was written by Barker and Tomlinson. The pairing continues a working relationship that started before Barker broke out as a solo directing name.

The new film was shot before Obsession was released. The budget is bigger this time. Anything But Ghosts cost US$5 million to produce, compared with US$750,000 for Obsession, and will be distributed by Focus Features, the company handling its release into cinemas. It is scheduled for release in May 2027.

Obsession has grossed more than US$500 million globally, as reported on 16 October 2026. It ranks as the fifth highest-grossing horror film of all time globally. Those figures cover ticket sales in all markets outside the filmmakers’ home base as well as domestic, the United States and Canada.

What makes this stand out is the timing. For fans, this means the follow-up was already in the can before the scale of Obsession became clear, and the wait now runs to next May.
