Your Orc no longer needs an axe to hit harder in World of Warcraft: Forever.

Blizzard has removed weapon-specific conditions from many racial abilities, the small passive bonuses tied to a character's race, in the latest beta update. The beta is set to end on October 21, 2026, just ahead of launch. GameSpot

That timing matters. The beta start date was September 17, 2026, and the new journey start date is November 4, 2026. Blizzard has also listed a stress test date of October 19, 2026, open for a limited time with no subscription, Game Time, invitation or beta access required.

The headline change is crit, short for critical hits that deal extra damage. Orcs now gain a 1% increase to crit chance at all times, with no specific weapon type needed. Humans gain a 2% increase to crit chance at all times on the same basis. Dwarves deal 2% increased critical damage and healing at all times.

Tauren, Trolls and Night Elves get more flexible movement and survival tools. Tauren's Plainsrunning now grants a 3% mounted movement speed buff that can stack with other mount buffs, and Tauren received decreased cooldowns for Cultivation and War Stomp. The Night Elf Quickness movement speed passive now stacks with other movement speed buffs. Trolls received an increase to health regeneration from the Regeneration passive.

The new Skyborne race gets a clear lift. Its Haste bonus, which speeds up attacks and spell casts, increased to 3% from 1%. Skyborne can now cast Skysight and Read Leyline while moving. Blizzard also added more leylines, the magical currents they read, to Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms.

Other tweaks finalise the pass and let players optimise builds without swapping weapons to suit a bonus. Undead's Touch of the Grave was adjusted for a more consistent proc chance and cooldown. Gnomes' Eureka passive is now an eight-second buff with no charges. Dwarves' Find Treasure now grants a chance to find additional items in chests.

Blizzard had said in its Forever Deep Dive Panel Recap on September 13, 2026 that racial abilities were reworked to feel stronger, more distinct and more meaningful. Blizzard

For players still customising characters, this means choice counts in a different way. Pick the look and flavour you like. The maths will follow you, not your weapon.
