Sixteen years after it was first announced, the quiet space game Faraway will launch on 5 November.

The date was revealed exclusively by GameSpot, which reported the game is set to arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. It is developed by Steph Thirion and published by Annapurna Interactive. First announced in 2010, it has been in the works for more than a decade and a half.

Faraway is built around 16 handcrafted puzzle stages. The whole game is designed to be playable with one button. That means no complex controls to learn, just timing and placement.

Alongside those set stages is an endless arcade mode. It is procedurally generated, a term for levels built by code rather than placed by hand, and stars you as a shooting star that must draw constellations to stay alive, according to its Steam listing. Players link stars together to harvest energy, extend their life and build score. Every run starts from nothing, with the universe forming in real time around how you play.

Thirion made the game largely single-handedly over more than ten years. He is best known for Eliss, a well-liked mobile game about pulling galaxies together with touch controls. Faraway continues that spare, hands-on style, with visuals generated entirely in real time and online leaderboards for high scores.

What makes this stand out is the timescale. Few games stay in development this long with the same creator and then reach four platforms at once. For players, this means a short wait now: 17 days from the 19 October 2026 reveal to launch.
