Laura Puig and Michelle Ciciyasvili have launched Maeve Communications, a New York publicity and strategic communications company. The pair announced the venture on Monday, 19 October 2026, Variety reported. It will focus on entertainment, media and talent services.

Publicity here means the day-to-day work of getting shows, films and people covered in the press. Strategic communications is the wider plan behind that coverage. It shapes how a project or a person is introduced and talked about.

The new firm is based in New York. It will take on project-based consultation, meaning advice brought in for a single show, launch or moment rather than year-round representation. It will also offer executive coaching, or one-to-one guidance for leaders on how they speak in public.

Puig left Tubi to start the company with Ciciyasvili. She brings 13 years of experience as a publicist across television, film, talent, creator and entertainment work. That mix covers both traditional screen business and the online creators who now sit alongside it.

Ciciyasvili was most recently senior director of comms at Betches. That title means she led communications work for the brand. She has 15 years of public relations experience across media, entertainment, lifestyle and fashion brands.

Between them, the founders bring experience from both screen and lifestyle press. Puig knows the television and film press cycle. Ciciyasvili knows lifestyle and fashion press. That breadth matters because talent careers now cross all of those areas at once.

Independent shops of this size often operate in a hands-on way. The founders lead the work themselves. Clients hire them for contacts, judgement and calm under pressure.

The name has a backstory. Maeve Communications takes its inspiration from Hollywood legend Mae West. West built a career on sharp delivery and control of her own image.

For viewers, this kind of company rarely appears on screen. Its work sits behind the interviews, premieres and profiles that surround a release. That work includes arranging interviews, managing red carpets and guiding announcements. It is rarely credited. Yet it decides when audiences first hear about a project.

A new shop simply means two more experienced hands helping those stories reach the public. The launch adds another option for producers, talent and brands looking for outside help.
