Paloma Negra Boards Michael Rowe's Custody Drama 'Last Weekend'

Paloma Negra has boarded Michael Rowe's new film "Last Weekend" as a production supporter, joining the cross-border custody drama just as shooting finished.
Filming wrapped on Oct. 15, according to Variety. The shoot took 17 days. Rowe has now started editing and is seeking producing partners to help cover post-production costs.
"Last Weekend" follows Adrian, an undocumented Mexican migrant worker living in San Diego. After a year-long custody battle, he is reunited with his six-year-old daughter for one weekend.
Fernando Cuautle plays Adrian. Newcomer Rose Peraza Benitez plays his daughter. Alejandra Cosio and Victor Oliveira also appear in the cast.
The production filmed across two countries. Interiors were shot on a soundstage in Mexico City, with location work in San Ysidro and Barrio Logan, south of San Diego. The film was produced by Rowe and Mariana Castro.
Rowe is the Australian-Mexican director behind "Leap Year." His debut feature won the Camera d'Or at Cannes, the festival's prize for best first feature.
Paloma Negra is the Mexico-based production company founded by producer Cristina Velasco and directors Rigoberto Perezcano and Jorge Hernandez Aldana.
For audiences, this means the wait moves to the cutting room. The footage exists. What happens next depends on Rowe finalising the edit and locking in the funds to finish it.
