Nicolas Cage plays con man The S.O.B. in Best Pancakes in the County trailer

Nicolas Cage is a fast-talking con man called The S.O.B. in the first trailer for Best Pancakes in the County.

IFC Films has released the trailer for the crime thriller, which will open in select theatres and on digital platforms on Nov. 20, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Select theatres means a limited cinema run in chosen cities rather than a full nationwide release.

The film was written and directed by Ken Sanzel. It is built as a tight, single-location crime story. That structure keeps the action close and the cast small.

The story centres on a small-town diner. The diner becomes the site of a violent standoff involving rogue federal agents. Cage lands in the middle of it as the con man at the centre of the trouble.

Justin Long and Shelley Hennig co-star alongside Cage. The wider cast includes Lauren German, Ravi Patel, Brandon Mychal Smith, Kelly Greyson, Jaylen Moore and Michael Sirow.

IFC Films is handling the United States release. The distributor picked up domestic rights, meaning the United States and Canada, in a deal reported by Deadline earlier in October. The Nov. 20 plan pairs that limited theatrical outing with a digital release at home.

For fans, this means a short wait. The trailer is out now. The film follows a month later.
