Jeff Daniels will lead Bannerman, a new spy drama for AMC that will later stream on Netflix.

Daniels is the first actor cast in the series, Deadline reported on 19 October 2026. The drama is based on the spy novels of John R. Maxim. It will get a second window on Netflix, meaning Netflix will show it after its first run on AMC.

Daniels will play Raymond Lesko. Lesko is a former New York police detective now working hotel security, and a central character in Maxim's books. The series centres on Paul Bannerman, a covert operative who convinces assassins to quit the spy game to live in suburban Connecticut.

The story comes from a run of five novels by Maxim, The Hollywood Reporter reported. It is described as a spy thriller about a retired covert operative. No actor has yet been announced for Bannerman himself.

The series is from Shane Black and Craig Silverstein. Black co-wrote the first episode and will serve as executive producer and direct the first two episodes. Silverstein is writer, showrunner and executive producer, meaning he leads the day-to-day creative work on the show. Greg Nicotero and Brian Witten are also executive producers.

Bannerman is the first series to come out of AMC Studios' co-production agreement with Netflix. AMC Studios and Netflix are co-producing the show, with AMC Studios as the lead studio in charge of production.

The release plan is split by territory. It will premiere on AMC in the United States and Canada, then become available on Netflix in those countries 90 days after the season finale airs on AMC. In Australia, New Zealand and Spain, Netflix and AMC will debut each episode jointly. Netflix will carry the show exclusively everywhere else in the world.

For viewers, this means where you find it depends on where you live. Start with AMC in North America. Catch up on Netflix three months later, or watch on Netflix from the start in most other markets.
