Rita Wilson to Return as Evie Michaels in HBO's Girls Revival

Rita Wilson will return as Evie Michaels in HBO's Girls revival.
She confirmed the casting to People in an interview published on Oct. 19, People. It adds another familiar face to a comeback HBO announced only days earlier.
Wilson played Evie, the mother of Marnie Michaels, played by Allison Williams. She first joined the series in Season 2 and kept making guest appearances, meaning short returns for one or a few episodes at a time, through its run, according to Variety. She told People she is "so excited" about the return of the show.
People presented the conversation as an exclusive titled "Rita Wilson Teases Her Return to 'Girls' in Revival". That label matters. It means the outlet carried her confirmation first.
HBO announced the revival, meaning a new run of a series after it had ended, on Oct. 13. The new version is created by Lena Dunham, who created the original series. It has been greenlit, meaning the broadcaster has approved it to go ahead, as a limited run, meaning a short season with a set ending.
The plan is five episodes, with production to begin in 2027. The wait will be long. For viewers, that timetable means casting announcements will arrive well before any footage or air date.
Dunham will return as Hannah Horvath alongside Williams as Marnie Michaels, Jemima Kirke as Jessa Johansson and Zosia Mamet as Shoshanna Shapiro. Andrew Rannells will also reprise his role as Elijah Krantz. The line-up reunites the central group from the original run.
That original series ran from 2012 to 2017. The new episodes will explore the characters' lives as they approach middle age, Yahoo reported.
What makes this stand out is timing. The core cast was confirmed with the Oct. 13 announcement, and Wilson's return followed within a week. For fans keeping track, it signals that the revival is filling out its wider family circle early, even with cameras more than a year away.
