Evolution Mallorca brings back five-minute pitch contest for 15th edition

Seven feature film projects will get five minutes each to sell their stories at Evolution Mallorca.
The festival is bringing back Evolution Pitch, the live pitching strand of its Script Lab programme, for its 15th edition, which runs Oct. 28 to Nov. 4, according to Variety. Five minutes. That is the whole window each team gets in front of a panel of international film professionals.
The format is simple. Seven projects were picked from Script Lab entries that submitted a pitch deck, a short slide presentation used to explain the story, team and plan for a film. Each team presents live. The winner receives a one-year subscription to Largo.ai.
The jury blends producers, directors and writers. It includes two-time Academy Award-winning producer Kim Magnusson and Xavi Font, producer of Sirát, alongside director Russell Goldman and writer-director Gabriela Ortega, according to Variety. Producer and former Mallorca Film Commission director Pedro Barbadillo, Largo.ai founder and chief executive Sami Arpa, and screenwriter and director Bora Dagtekin complete the panel.
Two of the selected projects have been named so far. They are "No Shade at Noon," written by Sheila Pye and Ally Mackie, and "Camino," written by Annabella Fazio. The festival has also revealed the finalists for its 2026 Script Lab & Screenplay Competition in a festival announcement.
The 2026 event takes place in Palma de Mallorca and runs for eight days, its official site notes. The festival was founded by Sandra Lipski.
What makes this stand out for newcomers is the access. A writer without an agent or a sales company rarely gets seven busy professionals in one room. Here the pitch is the ticket in.
