Cyberpunk 2077 gets free Edgerunners 2 update on 22 October
CD Projekt Red will release a free Cyberpunk 2077 update on 22 October to line up with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 arriving on Netflix.
The studio calls it the Edgerunners 2 Update, version 2.5. The second season started streaming exclusively on Netflix on 20 October 2026, with a United States release at 12:00 AM PDT that day.
The update is scheduled for release on 22 October on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, according to details reported by Eurogamer. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow shortly after that date. It is free.
CD Projekt Red said the update will add new items and features, including content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The full list has not yet been published. The studio planned a livestream to detail the contents on 21 October at 5pm CEST (4pm BST), as announced by CD Projekt Red.
The announcement was set out in a press release published on 20 October 2026, titled ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Premieres on Netflix, New Update Announced for Cyberpunk 2077’.
Edgerunners 2 is an animated series set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. That world centres on Night City, the fictional metropolis where the game takes place. This season follows a new crew of misfits in a new story, separate from the first season.
The series was created by CD Projekt Red in collaboration with TRIGGER, the Japanese animation studio behind the first season. CD Projekt Red had confirmed the premiere date alongside a new trailer announced on 21 August 2026, according to CD Projekt Red.
For fans, this means two things landing in the same week. The show is available to watch now. The game update lands two days later, with Switch 2 players catching up soon after.
