Israeli strikes and gunfire kill at least four in Gaza, medics say

At least four Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip on Oct. 20 in separate Israeli air attacks and gunfire, according to medics cited by Reuters.
Two of those killed were a married couple, Akram Yassin and his wife Dina Abu Baker. They died in an air strike on an apartment in Gaza City, according to health officials cited by Al Jazeera.
In southern Gaza, a 17-year-old boy was killed by Israeli gunfire near the Qizan an-Najjar neighbourhood in Khan Younis. A separate shooting killed one person in the Zeitoun suburb east of Gaza City.
Medics also reported that five other people were wounded in attacks across Gaza early Tuesday.
The deaths occurred a year after the ceasefire, or agreed halt in fighting, that began in October 2025. Gaza health authorities say 1,522 Palestinians have been killed and 5,421 wounded in Israeli attacks since then, and 839 bodies have been recovered from under rubble.
The authorities put the overall toll since October 2023 at at least 74,480 people killed and 175,539 wounded.
The scale of destruction remains vast. The United Nations estimates that about 82 percent of structures in Gaza, roughly 200,000 buildings, have been damaged, with about two-thirds destroyed since the war began.
Israel's military says it has carried out strikes in Gaza in response to what it describes as ceasefire violations, targeting what it describes as Hamas targets across the Strip.
