EA Sports revives Fight Night boxing series after 15 years

Fight Night is coming back.
EA Sports confirmed the revival of its boxing video game series on 20 October 2026. The news came in a brief social media post from the publisher: "To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back." Video Games Chronicle
It ends a very long break. The last entry, Fight Night Champion, was released in 2011. That leaves a 15-year gap between games.
The series had a short and steady run. EA released five Fight Night games between 2004 and 2011. Each earned a score in the mid-to-high 80s on Metacritic, the website that combines many press reviews into a single average.
Those scores matter for a general reader because they signal consistency. A game in the mid-to-high 80s is widely well reviewed. Five in a row is rare for any sports series.
EA then turned to a different fight sport. It set boxing aside to make games under the UFC licence, the mixed martial arts organisation where fighters can punch, kick, wrestle and grapple. It released five UFC games between 2014 and 2026.
The pause on boxing was flagged early. In May 2013, EA informed IGN that the Fight Night franchise was on hold while work began on its first UFC game. IGN At that time, EA Sports was led by Andrew Wilson.
The wording of the new post nods to that history. In boxing, the corner is where a fighter rests between rounds with their team. "Stayed in our corner" is EA's way of thanking fans who kept asking for the series during its years away.
What makes this stand out is the length of that wait. Players kept the name alive on forums, wish lists and comment threads. EA kept making fighting games, just not this one.
For fans, this means one question is settled and others begin. A new Fight Night is officially on the way. There is so far no confirmed release date, no platform list, no roster and no detail on how the boxing will play.
Still, the message was plain. No long speech. Just seven words of thanks, and a promise kept in the corner.
