Gabriel Basso Joins Julia Garner in Apple TV's Guilty Creatures

Gabriel Basso will star opposite Julia Garner in Guilty Creatures, Apple TV's upcoming thriller drama. Deadline reported the casting as an exclusive.
Basso joins as a series regular, meaning a lead role carried across the season. Garner leads the show and also executive produces, meaning she helps steer creative and business decisions, through her company Alma Margo.
The move lines up with the end of his current run. Basso stars as Peter Sutherland on The Night Agent, which has wrapped production on its fourth and final season. That last season is due to premiere in January, according to Deadline.
He will not be alone in the new ensemble. Lewis Pullman and Maddie Hasson are also series regulars on Guilty Creatures. Mary-Louise Parker will recur, meaning she appears in multiple episodes rather than as a full-time lead.
The story is rooted in a true-crime book. It was adapted by Sarah DeLappe from Mikita Brottman's Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida. Set in the Florida Panhandle, it centres on a romance and a murder between two young, adulterous, God-fearing lovers and the 18 years they spend living as killers.
Behind the camera, the series comes from director Craig Gillespie, showrunner Stuart Zicherman and Tomorrow Studios. Zicherman runs the writers' room and oversees the show day to day. Tomorrow Studios produced the series and developed it through first-look deals, meaning first refusal on new projects, with Alma Margo and Fortunate Jack Productions.
The producing team is large. Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements and Alissa Bachner executive produce through Tomorrow Studios. Craig Gillespie and Annie Marter executive produce through Fortunate Jack Productions.
For viewers, this points to a fast turnaround for Basso. He also appears opposite Margaret Qualley in Prime Video's Love Of Your Life. His earlier screen credits include playing J.D. Vance in Hillbilly Elegy.
Apple TV first announced Guilty Creatures in July, with Emmy Award winner Garner attached to star and executive produce, according to Apple TV. No premiere date has been announced.
