Studiocanal's Sixth Dimension Moves a Horror Game Toward the Big Screen

Studiocanal's horror label, Sixth Dimension, is developing a feature film based on the multiplayer video game The Headliners, Variety reported on 21 October 2026.
The project is in early development. That means the studio is still shaping the idea and has not started full production. Plot details, casting and a creative team have not yet been announced.
The game started as a small-team project. Kafi Games released it in 2025, and Lucas Bouyoux and Bruno Grégoire developed it. Up to eight players take on the roles of journalists in an New York overrun by aliens. Their job is to capture photos of the invasion. The game has sold more than 1.5 million copies, and it is available only on PC, the personal computer platform, not on consoles.
Sixth Dimension is the studio's in-house genre label. A genre label is a unit set up to focus on one type of film, here horror and thrillers. It launched in February 2025, and Jed Benedict leads it.
Its first release was a reboot of Silent Night, Deadly Night, the 1984 slasher that became a cult name among horror fans. The reboot reached cinemas in 2025. Sixth Dimension also produced Ice Cream Man, a 2026 film directed by Eli Roth.
The label's upcoming titles include The Mannequin, a horror thriller from Sean Byrne. It also includes Home Safety Hotline, which is based on a puzzle video game made by Night Signal Entertainment. That makes game adaptations a recurring thread in the label's slate.
Turning a game into a film is a long process. Rights must be secured, a writer must find a story in a game that may have little plot, and a studio must decide whether the idea is worth funding. Each of those steps is a choice made by people. For The Headliners, the first of those choices is now public.
