Péro Opens Lakmé Fashion Week With a Barbie Collection

Indian label Péro opened Lakmé Fashion Week in New Delhi in October 2026 with a spring 2027 collection made in partnership with Barbie, the doll brand owned by Mattel. The collection, titled "Dream Dress-up," was shown at the Taj Palace hotel in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India, the body that organises the Lakmé Fashion Week events with Lakmé, the cosmetics brand. WWD reported the opening.
Péro is the label of designer Aneeth Arora, who has spent 17 years building it. Trade press often describes her as an emerging designer, though the label is already a fixture in India. It is sold in more than 350 retail doors in India and in 35 countries. A retail door is a physical shop that stocks the brand, as opposed to an online store run by the label itself.
The collection's Barbie link was announced in stages. Péro's official Instagram posted a "Coming Soon" message for a "Pero x Barbie" collaboration, which it described as the second part of an earlier Barbie x Brown Girl Jane project. Later posts said the spring 2027 range would be sold through Péro's own channels, the Pero and ilovepero accounts, and framed the theme as imagination.
The show itself leaned on the doll's packaging. The backdrop was a large display of Barbie boxes. WWD reported that the show had no sari-clad Barbies and no explicit references to Indian weddings or occasions, which are themes that often appear in Indian occasionwear.
Arora addressed the fit between the two brands directly. She acknowledged that the collaboration may look like "not a match" to someone looking at it from outside the fashion world, according to WWD.
The opening of Lakmé Fashion Week came weeks after another milestone for the label. Péro opened its first flagship store, Pérodise, in September in Lodhi Colony, New Delhi. A flagship is a brand's main store, often used to show the full range. The shop, listed as Flagship No 30 at Lodhi Colony Market, is open every day from 10am to 7pm. Grazia India reported that the store brings the label's craft, nostalgia and playful spirit into a physical space. Robb Report India described the Pérodise as conceived as an immersive universe rather than a conventional shop.
Arora studied at the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Mumbai and the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, two of India's best-known design schools. Her label has shown at Lakmé Fashion Week before. In March, it held a high-profile finale at the Mumbai edition of the event.
For shoppers, the practical question is where the Barbie pieces will sit. The label has said the range will be available through its own channels. Pricing and the number of pieces have not been made public.
