Sony's PlayStation Pulse wireless headset goes on sale November 19, 2026, in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and more than a dozen other countries. The recommended retail price is $99.99, £89.99, €99.99 or ¥15,980, according to Sony's October 21 update to its September 15 announcement.

Pre-orders open October 29. In the US, they start at 7:00am PT through direct.playstation.com. In the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, they open at 10:00am local time through playstation.com/store/hardware. Elsewhere, pre-orders run at 10:00am local time direct from PlayStation where available and through participating retailers.

The launch list is broader than the pre-order list. It adds Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine to the markets above. The headset comes in white and midnight black.

The Pulse sits below Sony's existing top-end option. Engadget reports that it costs $50 less than the PlayStation Pulse Elite, the first planar magnetic headset Sony has made. Planar magnetic drivers use a thin, flat diaphragm suspended between magnets rather than a small cone, and the Pulse's drivers are larger than those in the Elite. PlayStation Direct's US listing for the Pulse Elite shows $149.00 and cites up to 30 hours of battery life with quick charging. The Pulse connects over Bluetooth and over the PlayStation Link protocol, which covers the PS5, PlayStation Portal, Mac and PC.

Sony has also named the next tiers. A higher-end Pulse Edge is set for 2027, and Sony says it will receive more updates then. Separately, the $220 Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, which also use planar magnetic drivers, begin shipping in November 2026.

Sony's storefront is already tying hardware to software. A Grand Theft Auto VI pre-order offer on the Danish PlayStation Store bundles a PULSE Elite headset with a subscription, ending November 19. An EA SPORTS FC 27 Standard Edition offer includes a PULSE Elite, and players can access FC 26 and FC 27 before November 1, 2026 with that offer. PlayStation's US site has also featured the Elite alongside game pages such as MLB The Show 26 and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.

The broader context here is a pricing ladder. At $99.99, the Pulse gives PS5 owners a planar magnetic option $50 below the Elite, and the Pulse Edge will occupy the tier above it when it arrives next year. The Bluetooth and PlayStation Link combination is also worth noting for technical readers. One headset that moves between console, Portal streaming and a Mac or PC reduces the number of audio devices on a desk, and it puts a flagship driver design within reach of a wider audience.

Whether the Pulse's sound and battery performance justify the price will become clear only once reviewers have tested the hardware. That testing is not part of this announcement.

In my view, the most useful thing about this launch is the direction it signals. Planar magnetic drivers, once confined to premium studio and audiophile gear, are moving down the product range, and the console ecosystem is where that migration is now happening. For buyers, the decision will come down to whether the $50 gap to the Elite buys enough.
