Inde Navarrette Says Heat 2 Never Offered Her a Role

Inde Navarrette says she was never offered a part in Michael Mann's Heat 2, even though she auditioned for it. She made the claim on The Kyle Buchanan Show podcast, and The Hollywood Reporter reported her comments on 21 October 2026.
Heat 2 is the sequel to Mann's 1995 crime film Heat. Navarrette said she began auditioning in April and kept at it for roughly two months. She sent several self-tapes, which are videos an actor records of themselves performing a scene at home. She also said she never turned the film down.
That account cuts against a rumour that had spread online for weeks. Fans speculated that Navarrette had passed on Heat 2 to take a role in Marvel's X-Men reboot. The idea grew from July reports that she had met with Mann and with X-Men director Jake Schreier.
On 27 August, TheWrap reported that Navarrette was never offered the Heat 2 role. According to that report, she had a single meeting with Mann about the film. The outlet said she did not turn down the sequel for Marvel.
Marvel's X-Men is now a confirmed project. In August, the studio unveiled its cast, and Navarrette is playing Rogue. Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey, Kit Connor plays Cyclops, Christopher Abbott plays Professor X, and Adam Driver plays the villain Mister Sinister. The film is set for release on 5 May 2028.
Navarrette has also been busy elsewhere. She stars in Obsession, a horror film written and directed by Curry Barker. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in October, she said she put her work ahead of making friends while filming. In an earlier interview in August, she named Mystique as the X-Men character she would most like to play.
For anyone following her career, the key point is simple. Navarrette says the Heat 2 offer never came, and she says she did not say no. Mann's sequel has not, in these reports, been tied to any named cast change beyond what has already been described. Marvel's date of 5 May 2028 stands as the next confirmed milestone for her.
