Universal Standard Brings Lauren Chan Back for an Eight-Style Holiday Collection

Universal Standard, the fashion brand that sells women's clothing in sizes 00 to 40, has launched a holiday collection with Lauren Chan. The range has eight styles and sells for $228 to $388, according to WWD.
Chan is the brand's head of brand partnerships. She launched her own label, Henning, in 2019 as a luxury plus-size clothing brand. Universal Standard acquired Henning in 2023.
The two companies first worked together in January 2024, on a limited-edition luxury collaboration. That collection had 25 pieces, and most of them cost less than $300, according to Who What Wear. Chan had also designed 10 collections for the Glamour x Lane Bryant collaboration.
The new holiday range covers tailoring, fluid cupro, vegan leather and faux fur. Cupro is a soft fabric made from plant cellulose, often used for loose, flowing garments. Vegan leather is a leather-look material made without animal hide, and faux fur imitates the look of real fur with synthetic fibres. Chan created the collection with Ramon Martin, Universal Standard's chief creative officer.
The range is the latest step in a partnership that has now run from a 2024 collaboration to a brand acquisition and a new seasonal line. Universal Standard's head of brand partnerships is now the designer on its holiday product, which places her work inside the company rather than alongside it.
Holiday collections are a regular part of the fashion calendar. Brands often release gift-season ranges in the autumn, ahead of the busiest shopping weeks at the end of the year. The collection's prices sit at the upper end of the range Universal Standard has sold, and the brand has not, in the reporting so far, given sales targets for the range.
The collection is offered in the same size range as the brand's core line, from 00 to 40.
