Nicole Miller Marks 45 Years With a New York Cocktail Presentation

Nicole Miller marked her 45th year in business and showed her spring 2027 collection at the same event, a cocktail presentation held in the Piano Room at Hotel Chelsea in New York.
The brand's spring collection is the range sold in the months that follow the autumn season. A presentation is a showing to buyers, editors and guests that happens ahead of stores receiving the clothes. This one took place on a Wednesday evening.
Miller described the night as her love letter to New York City, where her business started in 1982. WWD reported that she wanted to reimagine the most recognised pieces from her archives for the new range. A New York Post profile published the day before the event described the label as having started in New York's garment district, the area of Manhattan where many clothing workshops and wholesalers have long operated.
One of the revived pieces is a baseball mini, a short dress first shown on the spring 1992 runway and worn by the model Christy Turlington. For spring 2027 it returns as a sequin gown, a long evening dress covered in sequins, the small sparkling discs stitched onto fabric.
Guests included the television personality Nicky Hilton, the stylist Erin Walsh, the author Candace Bushnell and cast members of the Real Housewives franchise, according to WWD.
For a brand that has been in business since 1982, the anniversary and the new season arrived as one event. Miller's choice to show the collection in the same room where she marked the milestone ties the two together in a single evening. The guest list also shows how a designer's fashion show can draw people from television, writing and styling as well as from the fashion trade.
Nicole Miller is a name many people know from her clothing, but the business behind each season involves design teams, factories and retail partners. The presentation gave the public a look at the collection, while the sales calendar will decide how far it travels to shops and customers.
