Prince William Joins The Graham Norton Show as Earthshot Special Guest
Prince William surprised the audience by joining the filming of BBC One's The Graham Norton Show halfway through the recording, according to Hello Magazine. The episode was a special edition built around the Earthshot Prize, an annual environmental awards programme that William launched in 2020. Each year the prize names five winners.
He was joined on the show by Cate Blanchett, Robert Irwin and Hannah Waddingham. Blanchett sits on the Earthshot Prize Council, the group that helps guide the prize. Irwin is the prize's Global Ambassador, a role that makes him its public spokesperson. Waddingham has her own link to the awards, having hosted the 2023 Earthshot Prize Awards in Singapore.
Hello Magazine describes the appearance as a first. It says William is the first working royal to sit down on a British talk show. A working royal is a senior member of the royal family who carries out official public duties as part of their role.
The awards have featured celebrity guests before. People reported in November 2023 that William attended the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony in Singapore, and that the actress Cate Blanchett attended the awards night. Yahoo Entertainment reported at the time that Blanchett and Waddingham led the celebrity line-up for that evening.
The BBC's schedules list this episode as Series 34, Episode 5, in the week beginning 26 October 2026. The listing names Blanchett, Waddingham and Irwin as guests.
For viewers, the appeal is the mix of guests. A talk show is usually a place for film and television stars to promote new work, and this edition put the prize's founder, its council member and its ambassador in the same chairs. The format is light, but the prize itself is a serious award for environmental projects, and the episode brings that work into a general entertainment slot.
