Marvel's planned spy thriller Zodiac has its writers. Deadline reported on 22 October that Amit Cohen and Ron Leshem have been set to write the series for Disney+, the streaming service.

Marvel announced Zodiac on 8 October at New York Comic Con, the fan convention held each year in the city. Variety reported that the show is live-action, meaning it will use real actors rather than animation, and that it is due to arrive on Disney+ in 2028.

The story follows two spies who chase targets with special abilities. Variety reported that filming is set to begin in London in the spring. Deadline reported that production is set to start in 2027.

Marvel has not confirmed the writing team.

Cohen and Leshem are known for spy and thriller drama. Deadline reported that they created and executive produced Trust No One, Bad Boy, 8200, Red Skies and Traitor. Leshem also helped create the original Israeli series Euphoria, and he was a creator of the HBO version of that show.

For the people who will make it, the next step is the writers' room. That is where a series' scripts are first drafted, usually by a small team working together over several months. A show of this kind then needs a director, actors and a large crew before a single frame is shot. Each stage needs money and a schedule to be approved.

Marvel's shows have a long lead time. Announcing a series years before its release is common, because the studio needs time to write, cast and film. Zodiac sits on that timeline, with a 2028 release still more than a year away from the writers' room opening.

For viewers, the news is simple. A new spy show is on the way, with a writing team now named. The first trailer, cast list and episode count have not yet been announced.
