Megan Lawless and Lili Taylor have joined the cast of PREPPY, a true-crime film that is in production in Manhattan, Deadline reported on 23 October 2026.

The film is set in the summer of 1986, the months that led to the murder of Jennifer Levin by Robert Chambers in New York's Central Park. Chambers became known as the "Preppy Killer", a nickname that stuck to the case long after the trial. The new film tells that story as a thriller.

Six more performers joined the line-up alongside Lawless and Taylor: Gideon Adlon, Jaeden Martell, James Wilkie Broderick, Jaya Harper, Jahi Winston and Alex Consani. Kit Connor, Diana Silvers and Talia Ryder lead the cast. Elizabeth Marvel and Bill Camp also star.

Janicza Bravo is directing. The screenplay is an original work by David Levine and Rose Lichter-Marck. The film is a co-production of STX Entertainment and Aggregate Films, and each company has named producers. Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan and John Buderwitz produce for Aggregate. Peter Coleman and Paula Manzanedo produce for STX.

A cast announcement made during filming is the point where a project's line-up becomes public. It tells audiences who will appear on screen, and it signals to the industry that the production is moving ahead on schedule. Because the film draws on a real killing, the names attached will also shape how audiences see the people involved.

Lawless and Taylor are the first names announced in this round. The rest of the production's timetable, including a release date, was not part of the announcement.
