Fontaines D.C. Take Second UK No. 1 With Dopamine Chamber

Fontaines D.C. have their second No. 1 album on the UK Official Albums Chart. Dopamine Chamber, the band's fifth studio album, took the top spot on the chart dated 23 October 2026. Billboard reported that the album moved more than 70,000 chart units in its opening week.
Chart units are the count the UK chart uses to rank albums. They combine sales with streams, with streams converted into album-equivalent totals. The band's previous chart-topper was Skinty Fia, released in 2022. Official Charts had already reported midweek that the band was ahead in the race for the top spot.
The album was released on 16 October 2026. Its tracks include "Six Shot Morning" (4:56), "Marianne" (3:45), "Mimesis" (3:51) and "Happy For You." A deluxe vinyl set adds an illustrated outer sleeve, a blue spine band and two black records.
The opening week is one of the biggest of the year. Billboard counted it as the third-biggest opening week for an album in 2026. Two releases finished ahead of it. Harry Styles' Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally opened with 183,000 chart units, and Olivia Rodrigo's you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love opened with 103,000.
Rodrigo's album held the No. 2 spot on the chart. Michael Jackson's The Essential Compilation was No. 3, and Olivia Dean's The Art of Loving was No. 4. Sienna Spiro's Visitor also landed in the top five.
Further down the chart, Rachel Chinouriri earned her first top 10 album as I Think I Spoke Too Soon finished at No. 9. Zach Bryan's Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs entered at No. 11. Nieve Ella's debut album, How Long Will It Take?, entered at No. 31.
A chart position is a tally for one week. It counts what people bought and played in a specific window, and it does not measure how long an album will last. Each of those units, though, is a listener who paid for a copy or pressed play, and the figures are also a signal to the people who make, press and sell the records.
